First camping/beach trip

This weekend was Smudge's first camping holiday. We all went down to a campsite near Bodium in East Sussex. And it was great, Smudge made friends with the dogs in the next door tent and had a lovely time, he also got to join in a little when the boys played football. He didn't really like the dark or the fire but settled down fine in the tent with a lamp. He also slept through from 12-7 in his crate which is a first.

On the way home we went to Hastings for some fish and chips and to see the sea.

As you can see the waves were a bit scary but the stones on the beach were fun,

All this excitement took its toll, and smudge had a little nap on the way home

Ooops

Ooops, shouldn't have left the milk on the floor. He's such a scamp!

Smudges Pack

Smudge is part of his own pack.

He sees them every morning. He's very sociable and very confident with even the biggest of dogs.

He's in there somewhere.

Smudge training at the park. He's about 13 weeks old here.

Relationship building

Just a quick post to show that Smudge has met the cats and although they aren't best friends they seem to tolerate each other.

Monday 10 August 2009

I can't believe Smudge has been with us for over a week. Even in this short time he has learnt so much. Here is a picture of him showing off his 'sit' position.

We are also working on his 'down' position and recall. We have also discovered that he likes the landrover better than my golf, perhaps some genetic preference from working ancestors. But he certainly enjoyed the wind in his ears on a little trip out yesterday. He also met his first other dogs, and seemed a little timid, which is something to be worked on in puppy classes.

Finally here is a picture of Smudge sleeping, I can only guess that he is dreaming of jumping over a fence.

A short video of Smudge

Monday 3 August 2009

Ok so I promised pictures, so here are the first pictures of smudge in his new home

He seems to be settling in very well, he likes to play fetch, squeeky toys and licking peoples toes.

And has worked out where he is supposed to do his business and 9 times out of 10 he gets it right.

But I would say to anyone thinking of getting a puppy it is exhausting. Steve has taken over today and I am off to work for a rest.

I am sure there will be more pictures very soon. Smudge has quite a busy week ahead, first trip to the vets, first puppy class and getting to know the cats. I will keep you updated.

Morning all,

We went to see the puppies again yesterday. My have they grown, but still very cute. We had a little cuddle of them all, and got a little distracted so no decent photos I am afraid. I think we have almost chosen our boy, there is however a slight problem. The dog in question has what looks like a black smudge on his nose, and without thinking we started calling him smudgy. So it looks like although the title of our blog is Domino our dog will be called Smudge. lol

The Puppies

We have been waiting for a long time for our lives to have enough room for a border collie puppy.
Now two new jobs later, I think we are as ready as we will ever be.
After reading all we could and talking to so many people, we have found a lovely breeder that has some puppies.
And last Thursday we went along for the second visit to find that the puppies have their eyes open and are developing real personalities.
Its going to be a very difficult decision to pick one.
We then sat in on the puppy training class, with 4 10-11 week old border collies, I think I saw a glimpse of my future in a field carrying a tupperware box of cheese treats. lol
Anyway having read all my waffle you deserve a picture of the puppies

I am not even sure our future friend will be one of these, but they are lovely none the less.
We are hoping to pop in to see them again this Thursday, so will post more then.
